How to prepare a pan for brownies
One way to make your brownie baking experience a positive one is knowing how to prepare your pan with grease and parchment paper.
A parchment paper baking tip
Besides greasing your pan and lining it with parchment paper, you can go one step further by preparing a parchment paper sling.
A parchment paper sling is a rectanglar piece of parchment paper that fits the width of a baking pan with an excess in the length that extends up and over the sides of the pan.
The extended length of the parchment paper creates “handles” that make it easy to lift brownies out of the pan after they are cooled and frosted.
No parchment paper, no problem
If you don’t have parchment paper no worries. Just use aluminum foil instead.
Instructions
You’ll need 5 things
- baking pan
- parchment paper
- scissors
- shortening
- a paper towel
For this example I am using an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Flip your pan over so the base (bottom) is facing up
2. Fold the parchment paper to the width of the pan
3. Cut along the fold in the parchment paper
4. Check that the parchment paper fits in the pan with an excess in length that extends up and over the sides
5. Grease the pan with shortening (you could also use butter or cake pan release)
6. Place the parchment paper in the pan
You’re good to go and ready to bake!
